  • [Music]
  • 00:00:10.270 --> 00:00:22.270
  • Now it's well known that the law of the harvest is a natural
  • 00:00:22.280 --> 00:00:26.240
  • law that has spiritual application. In fact, when you
  • 00:00:26.250 --> 00:00:31.200
  • read your Bible, you see many references to agriculture and
  • 00:00:31.210 --> 00:00:35.190
  • farming. It was their culture; it was there society, and so
  • 00:00:35.200 --> 00:00:38.210
  • there are many illustrations regarding farming. Now I didn't
  • 00:00:38.220 --> 00:00:42.240
  • grow up on a farm or even near a farm. Even when I was living in
  • 00:00:42.250 --> 00:00:46.040
  • small town Arkansas we lived in a little town and we sort of
  • 00:00:46.050 --> 00:00:49.160
  • just stayed to the town. And then I grew up the rest of my
  • 00:00:49.170 --> 00:00:53.040
  • time in Fort Worth... that was Cowtown, but I never got near
  • 00:00:53.050 --> 00:00:56.140
  • too many cows. I just pretty much stayed in the town. And I
  • 00:00:56.150 --> 00:01:00.130
  • didn't grow up on a farm. But when I went to Oklahoma...
  • 00:01:00.140 --> 00:01:05.130
  • Hobart, Oklahoma was my first fulltime pastor, it was full of
  • 00:01:05.140 --> 00:01:09.270
  • farmers. This little farming community in southwest Oklahoma.
  • 00:01:09.280 --> 00:01:13.040
  • And may I say that some of the best people anywhere live in
  • 00:01:13.050 --> 00:01:17.080
  • Oklahoma, and these farmers from Oklahoma... they were
  • 00:01:17.090 --> 00:01:21.090
  • Dutch-German farmers. They were hard working, and as a young
  • 00:01:21.100 --> 00:01:25.270
  • pastor, just 24 years of age, I learned a little bit about
  • 00:01:25.280 --> 00:01:30.210
  • farming and I learned a whole lot about hard work and what it
  • 00:01:30.220 --> 00:01:33.260
  • takes to bring the harvest in. And what is true in the
  • 00:01:33.270 --> 00:01:37.280
  • fields... whether it is wheat fields, corn fields, cotton
  • 00:01:37.290 --> 00:01:41.010
  • fields... it's also true in the spiritual field which is the
  • 00:01:41.020 --> 00:01:45.030
  • world that God has given us. And so there are some laws of the
  • 00:01:45.040 --> 00:01:49.140
  • harvest that relate to our living, that relate to our
  • 00:01:49.150 --> 00:01:54.010
  • giving, and relate to our going- sharing the Gospel. And that's
  • 00:01:54.020 --> 00:02:00.050
  • what I want to talk to you about today. Here are the laws of the
  • 00:02:00.060 --> 00:02:04.140
  • harvest as applied: You reap what you sow- that's the
  • 00:02:04.150 --> 00:02:08.080
  • principle of identification. If you sow corn, you reap corn;
  • 00:02:08.090 --> 00:02:14.040
  • wheat, you reap wheat, and so on. You reap what you sow. But
  • 00:02:14.050 --> 00:02:18.200
  • there's more. You reap more than you sow, and that's the
  • 00:02:18.210 --> 00:02:22.050
  • principle of multiplication. If you throw a few seeds down, it
  • 00:02:22.060 --> 00:02:26.130
  • can produce a bumper crop. Barrels and bush loads of...
  • 00:02:26.140 --> 00:02:31.200
  • bushel basket loads of a harvest. That's
  • 00:02:31.210 --> 00:02:35.250
  • multiplication... you reap more than you sow. And then, of
  • 00:02:35.260 --> 00:02:39.070
  • course, you reap later than you sow. You don't throw the seed
  • 00:02:39.080 --> 00:02:42.290
  • down and expect it to grow the next day. It takes cultivation
  • 00:02:43.000 --> 00:02:45.220
  • and planting and watering and all of the rest. So these are
  • 00:02:45.230 --> 00:02:51.110
  • the natural laws. How does the law of the harvest connect with
  • 00:02:51.120 --> 00:02:57.130
  • your life? Let me mention three ways. Number one, the law of the
  • 00:02:57.140 --> 00:03:01.210
  • harvest relates to our living. Beginning in verse 7 of
  • 00:03:01.220 --> 00:03:06.090
  • Galatians chapter 6: 7) Do not be deceived: God is not mocked,
  • 00:03:06.100 --> 00:03:12.140
  • for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8) For the one who
  • 00:03:12.150 --> 00:03:18.090
  • sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but
  • 00:03:18.100 --> 00:03:24.010
  • the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap
  • 00:03:24.020 --> 00:03:28.070
  • eternal life. (verse 9) 9) And let us not grow weary of doing
  • 00:03:28.080 --> 00:03:35.230
  • good, for in due season... (That is, when the harvest comes) we
  • 00:03:35.240 --> 00:03:39.290
  • will reap, if we do not give up. 10) So then... so then as we
  • 00:03:40.000 --> 00:03:49.220
  • have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to
  • 00:03:49.230 --> 00:03:55.250
  • those who are of the household of faith. We ought to love our
  • 00:03:55.260 --> 00:04:00.210
  • church and we ought to love the Lord. The law of life is for
  • 00:04:00.220 --> 00:04:07.010
  • living. Whatever we sow, we reap, and when we sow, according
  • 00:04:07.020 --> 00:04:14.280
  • to the Old Testament prophet, the wind, we will reap the
  • 00:04:14.290 --> 00:04:20.180
  • whirlwind." Frankly, that's what's happening in America. We
  • 00:04:20.190 --> 00:04:25.240
  • have sown the seeds of sin, and the winds of hell are blowing,
  • 00:04:25.250 --> 00:04:32.160
  • and at hurricane force. We're seeing it happen. I was just
  • 00:04:32.170 --> 00:04:36.290
  • reading a report this week from our United States public health
  • 00:04:37.000 --> 00:04:41.190
  • organization, and did you know that STD... sexually transmitted
  • 00:04:41.200 --> 00:04:48.140
  • diseases are at an all time high in America? In spite of all of
  • 00:04:48.150 --> 00:04:52.260
  • the... of the so-called safe sex and all the rest, birth control
  • 00:04:52.270 --> 00:04:57.280
  • and all the rest... STD... sexually transmitted diseases
  • 00:04:57.290 --> 00:05:02.220
  • are at an all time high. Epidemic proportions in this
  • 00:05:02.230 --> 00:05:08.090
  • country. And we are seeing violence and hatred and
  • 00:05:08.100 --> 00:05:12.180
  • immorality and perversion, and drug and alcohol abuse, and all
  • 00:05:12.190 --> 00:05:19.270
  • the rest because we have sown the seed of sin in our country.
  • 00:05:19.280 --> 00:05:25.260
  • And as a result God is not mocked. You can't play games
  • 00:05:25.270 --> 00:05:31.230
  • with God! And whatever we sow, we also reap. And what's true
  • 00:05:31.240 --> 00:05:38.090
  • nationally, of course, is true personally. If you sow the seeds
  • 00:05:38.100 --> 00:05:43.000
  • of sin in your life, you will reap what the Scripture says
  • 00:05:43.010 --> 00:05:47.120
  • here is corruption and death. Now there's a contrast here in
  • 00:05:47.130 --> 00:05:52.020
  • this passage. It talks about the will and the work of the Spirit,
  • 00:05:52.030 --> 00:05:55.200
  • and the works of the flesh. And the flesh just simply means who
  • 00:05:55.210 --> 00:06:00.040
  • you are humanly, who you are naturally. And when you become a
  • 00:06:00.050 --> 00:06:03.280
  • believer and follower of Jesus, you still live in this body...
  • 00:06:03.290 --> 00:06:08.110
  • you still live in the flesh, but now you have this spiritual
  • 00:06:08.120 --> 00:06:12.270
  • battle that goes on on the inside. And it's a struggle as
  • 00:06:12.280 --> 00:06:17.130
  • compared to what I want to do in my flesh and what the Spirit of
  • 00:06:17.140 --> 00:06:23.040
  • God enables me to do by His power. And I must yield to the
  • 00:06:23.050 --> 00:06:28.120
  • work of the Holy Spirit that I can overcome the power of sin
  • 00:06:28.130 --> 00:06:33.210
  • and selfishness in my own life. That means that you must starve
  • 00:06:33.220 --> 00:06:40.010
  • the flesh and feed the spirit... starve the flesh and feed the
  • 00:06:40.020 --> 00:06:47.210
  • spirit. And you cannot compromise with sin and you
  • 00:06:47.220 --> 00:06:52.090
  • cannot cover sin! If you compromise sin, then it's all
  • 00:06:52.100 --> 00:06:58.020
  • in. Last spring I walked into my house and we have a little room
  • 00:06:58.030 --> 00:07:04.050
  • that we've turned into a room for our two beagle dogs. And
  • 00:07:04.060 --> 00:07:08.270
  • Deuce and Yogi are there during the day, and they have a little
  • 00:07:08.280 --> 00:07:12.080
  • dog door that they can get in and out. And when I got home it
  • 00:07:12.090 --> 00:07:16.030
  • was little bit foreboding anyway... It was a dark day, it
  • 00:07:16.040 --> 00:07:19.000
  • was rainy, it was a little cool. It just didn't feel right. And I
  • 00:07:19.010 --> 00:07:23.150
  • walked in to let the dogs out and into the house. And when I
  • 00:07:23.160 --> 00:07:27.160
  • let them out, I looked in the corner of the dog room and there
  • 00:07:27.170 --> 00:07:31.090
  • was the most humongous raccoon you have ever seen... staring at
  • 00:07:31.100 --> 00:07:38.210
  • me. Now... bigger than my beagle dog! This... this thing looked
  • 00:07:38.220 --> 00:07:43.080
  • like a wolf! It was mean. It was nasty. It was wet. It was
  • 00:07:43.090 --> 00:07:48.240
  • staring at me. It was glaring me! What are you going do? Now I
  • 00:07:48.250 --> 00:07:53.160
  • know all of you who are hunters, you have weapons in your home. I
  • 00:07:53.170 --> 00:07:56.060
  • don't have any weapons in my home. The only thing I had to
  • 00:07:56.070 --> 00:07:58.110
  • defend myself in our home is a baseball bat. [laughter] So I
  • 00:07:58.120 --> 00:08:04.110
  • didn't want to bloody up the dog room with the baseball bat. So I
  • 00:08:04.120 --> 00:08:08.210
  • went and got that big thing, you know, in your closet, if you
  • 00:08:08.220 --> 00:08:12.020
  • have a closet and you want to hang your clothes up high...
  • 00:08:12.030 --> 00:08:13.270
  • that big long pole? So I went and got that. Like a jouster I
  • 00:08:13.280 --> 00:08:17.080
  • went in there and I had my bat in my hand because this thing
  • 00:08:17.090 --> 00:08:20.240
  • wouldn't move. I couldn't scare it away! I couldn't get it out
  • 00:08:20.250 --> 00:08:24.140
  • of the dog room. I let the beagles to safety and it's just
  • 00:08:24.150 --> 00:08:27.190
  • me and the raccoon. I tried doing like Davy Crockett. I
  • 00:08:27.200 --> 00:08:31.260
  • thought about my Davy Crockett days... you know how you just
  • 00:08:31.270 --> 00:08:34.030
  • grin a bear to death? I was trying to grin at it, glare at
  • 00:08:34.040 --> 00:08:37.200
  • it, anything I could do. This thing's not moving. So I'm going
  • 00:08:37.210 --> 00:08:41.120
  • in with a... I'm going in, taking my own life in my hands
  • 00:08:41.130 --> 00:08:45.110
  • against this raccoon. [laughter] So I'm going in with... with a
  • 00:08:45.120 --> 00:08:53.080
  • closet hanger. And he's still not budging. I'm punching him.
  • 00:08:53.090 --> 00:08:59.110
  • He won't go! He's just growling at me. I got to get this thing
  • 00:08:59.120 --> 00:09:03.130
  • out of the house! Cause you can't live with a raccoon in
  • 00:09:03.140 --> 00:09:07.080
  • your house! So what am I going to do? So I went and got three
  • 00:09:07.090 --> 00:09:15.280
  • baseballs [laughter]. Now I still got a pretty good arm. I
  • 00:09:15.290 --> 00:09:23.240
  • gave him one more chance to repent and get out, and told him
  • 00:09:23.250 --> 00:09:27.060
  • [laughter] Raccoon didn't budge. So you know, I'm pretty much
  • 00:09:27.070 --> 00:09:32.260
  • from here to the front row in this little room. So he's a
  • 00:09:32.270 --> 00:09:35.250
  • pretty easy target. So I wind up with a baseball and [phmmmmf]
  • 00:09:35.260 --> 00:09:40.200
  • and it went right by his ear. Missed him. And he just glared
  • 00:09:40.210 --> 00:09:45.190
  • at me all the more. So the next time I take this ball, I line
  • 00:09:45.200 --> 00:09:50.050
  • him up, and go right there and hit him right between the eyes!
  • 00:09:50.060 --> 00:09:54.080
  • He goes down, he's out. And now I'm thinking, I just killed this
  • 00:09:54.090 --> 00:09:58.280
  • raccoon! I don't want to describe the scene but it was
  • 00:09:58.290 --> 00:10:02.040
  • not a pretty scene. And this raccoon is laying in my dog
  • 00:10:02.050 --> 00:10:05.110
  • room! How am I going to get it out? I started calling Tate
  • 00:10:05.120 --> 00:10:07.290
  • Cruz, my neighbor - no answer. I started calling friends to help
  • 00:10:08.000 --> 00:10:11.140
  • me get rid of this thing and there's no answer. You know,
  • 00:10:11.150 --> 00:10:13.290
  • four or five minutes later. And finally this thing staggers to
  • 00:10:14.000 --> 00:10:16.190
  • his feet. He wants to go another round! [laughter] So I take
  • 00:10:16.200 --> 00:10:23.040
  • another baseball and I go [phmmmmf], and this time I hit
  • 00:10:23.050 --> 00:10:26.250
  • him right in the rear end. And finally... finally he staggered
  • 00:10:26.260 --> 00:10:32.210
  • out the door through the dog door where he came in. The last
  • 00:10:32.220 --> 00:10:36.260
  • time I saw him he was waddling out the backyard, and we've
  • 00:10:36.270 --> 00:10:40.180
  • never seen him again. I hope he went and told all his raccoon
  • 00:10:40.190 --> 00:10:45.200
  • friends, "Don't go to that crazy preacher's house!" [laughter]
  • 00:10:45.210 --> 00:10:51.180
  • Now I tell you that story... been wanting to tell you that
  • 00:10:51.190 --> 00:10:54.000
  • story for a long time. Couldn't figure out what in the world it
  • 00:10:54.010 --> 00:10:56.270
  • might apply to. But I'm telling you can't live with a rabid
  • 00:10:56.280 --> 00:11:02.120
  • animal in your house. And you got to do everything you can to
  • 00:11:02.130 --> 00:11:08.060
  • deal with sin in your life. Paul called it crucifying the flesh,
  • 00:11:08.070 --> 00:11:13.250
  • mortifying the flesh. You got to kill it. If we don't kill sin,
  • 00:11:13.260 --> 00:11:18.240
  • sin will kill us. And so if... with our living we have to be
  • 00:11:18.250 --> 00:11:24.070
  • willing to do whatever it takes to mortify the flesh and to
  • 00:11:24.080 --> 00:11:30.070
  • minimize the impact and the power of the flesh in our lives.
  • 00:11:30.080 --> 00:11:34.130
  • Because some people think they can cover their sin. Some people
  • 00:11:34.140 --> 00:11:40.000
  • think that when they sin, they can win. If you try to cover
  • 00:11:40.010 --> 00:11:48.250
  • your sin, ultimately your sin will find you out. That's what
  • 00:11:48.260 --> 00:11:52.180
  • the Bible says. "Be sure your sin will find you out." There
  • 00:11:52.190 --> 00:11:57.070
  • are consequences to sin. Now the fruit of the Spirit is life! The
  • 00:11:57.080 --> 00:12:03.200
  • fruit of the flesh is death. Character is the consequence of
  • 00:12:03.210 --> 00:12:10.000
  • your choices... character is the consequences of your choices.
  • 00:12:10.010 --> 00:12:15.130
  • It's been said many times: Sow a thought and you will reap a
  • 00:12:15.140 --> 00:12:18.250
  • deed; sow a deed and you will reap a habit; sow a habit and
  • 00:12:18.260 --> 00:12:25.150
  • you will reap a character; sow a character and you will reap a
  • 00:12:25.160 --> 00:12:31.210
  • destiny. So when you read this passage and you think about the
  • 00:12:31.220 --> 00:12:37.010
  • law of the harvest, just remember, regarding our sin...
  • 00:12:37.020 --> 00:12:40.170
  • regarding the way we live our lives, we reap what we sow. We
  • 00:12:40.180 --> 00:12:46.000
  • sow to the flesh, you get corruption. You sow to the
  • 00:12:46.010 --> 00:12:52.000
  • spirit, you feed the spirit and starve the flesh, then you will
  • 00:12:52.010 --> 00:13:00.090
  • reap a harvest of goodness and righteousness and godliness and
  • 00:13:00.100 --> 00:13:03.280
  • Christ likeness in your life.
  • 00:13:03.290 --> 00:13:06.200
  • [Music]

  • out your faith in practical ways this Christmas season. So call
  • 00:14:10.160 --> 00:14:14.220

  • JackGraham.org to donate to our ministry and receive 25 Years of
  • 00:14:17.010 --> 00:14:22.160
  • Proclamation and THE COST OF CHRISTMAS today.
  • 00:14:22.170 --> 00:14:26.080
  • Now let's talk
  • 00:14:26.090 --> 00:14:27.210
  • briefly about the law of the harvest as it relates to our
  • 00:14:27.220 --> 00:14:32.210
  • giving... our giving. Because this is the spiritual picture of
  • 00:14:32.220 --> 00:14:37.050
  • sowing a seed. Just as a farmer sows a seed into the ground, not
  • 00:14:37.060 --> 00:14:43.150
  • because he always felt like it. I saw those farmers back in
  • 00:14:43.160 --> 00:14:46.140
  • western Oklahoma ... they would get up so early before sunrise
  • 00:14:46.150 --> 00:14:50.090
  • and stay out late till after dark. They would go whether they
  • 00:14:50.100 --> 00:14:53.180
  • felt like it or not, whether they were sick or not sick, they
  • 00:14:53.190 --> 00:14:57.010
  • went every day because they knew the harvest depended on it. They
  • 00:14:57.020 --> 00:15:01.060
  • knew they had to get the seed in the ground! And this is
  • 00:15:01.070 --> 00:15:04.190
  • important regarding the sowing our seeds of giving in our life.
  • 00:15:04.200 --> 00:15:08.280
  • It's important to remember that giving... generosity is a
  • 00:15:08.290 --> 00:15:13.030
  • spiritual principle in every believer's life. And it is
  • 00:15:13.040 --> 00:15:16.260
  • essential to spiritual growth. If you want to have a spiritual
  • 00:15:16.270 --> 00:15:21.120
  • harvest in your life. The Scripture tells us... words of
  • 00:15:21.130 --> 00:15:25.120
  • Jesus: [Matthew 6:19] "Don't lay up treasures on earth where
  • 00:15:25.130 --> 00:15:31.010
  • moths corrupt and thieves break in and steal." Don't do that.
  • 00:15:31.020 --> 00:15:34.200
  • Not because laying up treasures on earth is inherently bad in
  • 00:15:34.210 --> 00:15:41.110
  • and of itself, but because it's a bad investment. It's just not
  • 00:15:41.120 --> 00:15:47.060
  • a good investment to invest in the things of this earth and not
  • 00:15:47.070 --> 00:15:51.290
  • invest in the things of eternity. The accountant of the
  • 00:15:52.000 --> 00:15:56.070
  • well known millionaire the turn of the 19th century, J. D.
  • 00:15:56.080 --> 00:15:59.100
  • Rockefeller was... the accountant was once asked, "How
  • 00:15:59.110 --> 00:16:03.010
  • much did J. D. Rockefeller leave in his estate?" And the answer
  • 00:16:03.020 --> 00:16:07.240
  • was all of it! Every bit of it! You know you've never seen a
  • 00:16:07.250 --> 00:16:17.110
  • U-Haul on the back of a hearse because you can't take that
  • 00:16:17.120 --> 00:16:21.150
  • stuff with you! So the smart money is on investing in the
  • 00:16:21.160 --> 00:16:26.040
  • things that last. It is a wise investment. When we are sowing
  • 00:16:26.050 --> 00:16:32.120
  • selfishness, again, if we sow to ourselves and are always heaping
  • 00:16:32.130 --> 00:16:39.130
  • up possessions and pleasures on ourselves, that's the opposite
  • 00:16:39.140 --> 00:16:44.110
  • of generosity, and it reaps corruption. But when we are
  • 00:16:44.120 --> 00:16:49.220
  • giving... when we become generous people... giving our
  • 00:16:49.230 --> 00:16:53.000
  • time, giving our talent, giving our tithes and treasures to the
  • 00:16:53.010 --> 00:16:56.070
  • Lord... that is an investment that will last forever. There
  • 00:16:56.080 --> 00:17:02.060
  • are several reasons that we ought to give. One is obedience
  • 00:17:02.070 --> 00:17:07.100
  • to God. When you obey God, you please God, and it brings
  • 00:17:07.110 --> 00:17:13.130
  • fulfillment and satisfaction. I don't know about you but I know
  • 00:17:13.140 --> 00:17:17.010
  • every time I do what God wants me to do and fulfill His plan
  • 00:17:17.020 --> 00:17:21.270
  • and purpose for my life, whether it's giving or something else, I
  • 00:17:21.280 --> 00:17:26.060
  • know, not only does it please God but it's so satisfying, and
  • 00:17:26.070 --> 00:17:30.070
  • therefore, it brings joy. The more we give of ourselves and
  • 00:17:30.080 --> 00:17:38.000
  • what we have, the more we enjoy it. Again, the opposite of this
  • 00:17:38.010 --> 00:17:40.150
  • is being miserable, is the word miser. If you're miserly and
  • 00:17:40.160 --> 00:17:45.120
  • become a selfish person, your world gets very, very small. But
  • 00:17:45.130 --> 00:17:51.170
  • if you give your life away... Jesus talked about giving your
  • 00:17:51.180 --> 00:17:56.100
  • life away like planting a seed into the ground and it dies, but
  • 00:17:56.110 --> 00:18:00.160
  • He said,[Matthew 16:25] "Whoever loses his life will gain it."
  • 00:18:00.170 --> 00:18:03.260
  • And it's the question of giving your life and giving yourself,
  • 00:18:03.270 --> 00:18:09.090
  • and that's what brings great joy. There's blessing! God will
  • 00:18:09.100 --> 00:18:13.150
  • give you a harvest. Remember, you reap what you sow, you reap
  • 00:18:13.160 --> 00:18:16.080
  • more than you sow, and you reap later than you sow. And when you
  • 00:18:16.090 --> 00:18:22.050
  • give to God... when you give to the work of Jesus Christ through
  • 00:18:22.060 --> 00:18:25.140
  • the ministry of your church, through the outreach evangelism
  • 00:18:25.150 --> 00:18:29.050
  • efforts of God's people, when you give like this, God will be
  • 00:18:29.060 --> 00:18:33.220
  • no man's debtor. You cannot out give God! God will pour out
  • 00:18:33.230 --> 00:18:39.010
  • blessings upon your life. Some material, some immaterial, all
  • 00:18:39.020 --> 00:18:43.270
  • spiritual! All from the hand of God! It's a blessing! And we
  • 00:18:43.280 --> 00:18:48.280
  • don't give to get. But here's what we do: When we give, Jesus
  • 00:18:48.290 --> 00:18:53.080
  • said in Luke 6:38, "Give good measure, pressed together,
  • 00:18:53.090 --> 00:18:57.260
  • shaken down, running over!" Because God has said, "When you
  • 00:18:57.270 --> 00:19:02.030
  • give to Me, I am going to bless you in ways that you can't even
  • 00:19:02.040 --> 00:19:07.070
  • measure!" If you want the blessing of God in your life...
  • 00:19:07.080 --> 00:19:10.260
  • if you want to receive from God, you must be willing to obey God
  • 00:19:10.270 --> 00:19:14.080
  • in this matter. But here... here's what I want to say. You
  • 00:19:14.090 --> 00:19:18.160
  • don't just give to get. You give to get in order to give some
  • 00:19:18.170 --> 00:19:22.180
  • more, in order to get some more, in order to give some more, in
  • 00:19:22.190 --> 00:19:25.170
  • or... Do you see what I'm saying? It's all about the cycle
  • 00:19:25.180 --> 00:19:29.090
  • of blessing in your life. Ultimately we give because we
  • 00:19:29.100 --> 00:19:32.250
  • love, and God opens our heart, and we have a greater love. And
  • 00:19:32.260 --> 00:19:36.220
  • there's such freedom in giving because it breaks the back of
  • 00:19:36.230 --> 00:19:42.010
  • greed in our lives. We all deal with greed and selfishness, and
  • 00:19:42.020 --> 00:19:45.030
  • giving will destroy the power of greed in our lives. You say,
  • 00:19:45.040 --> 00:19:53.070
  • "Well, Pastor, that's all good but just don't have very much to
  • 00:19:53.080 --> 00:19:57.090
  • give. I can't afford to give." Don't wait until you can afford
  • 00:19:57.100 --> 00:19:59.080
  • to give. Be faithful and plant some seeds. Be faithful to God
  • 00:19:59.090 --> 00:20:06.050
  • with what you have. If God can't trust you with small things, how
  • 00:20:06.060 --> 00:20:12.000
  • could God possibly trust you with larger things? God's Word
  • 00:20:12.010 --> 00:20:17.280
  • is clear in this. Proverbs 3:5&6. This is the New Living:
  • 00:20:17.290 --> 00:20:22.090
  • "In everything you do put God first and He will direct you and
  • 00:20:22.100 --> 00:20:25.290
  • crown your efforts with success." Put God first in your
  • 00:20:26.000 --> 00:20:30.210
  • family; He'll bless your family. Put God first in your work...
  • 00:20:30.220 --> 00:20:35.200
  • your business... your career and God will bless your work, your
  • 00:20:35.210 --> 00:20:39.230
  • business, your career. Put God first in your finances and God
  • 00:20:39.240 --> 00:20:43.090
  • will bless your finances. Why? Because we reap what we sow. Am
  • 00:20:43.100 --> 00:20:49.060
  • I a giver or am I a taker? The temptation to my, me and mine
  • 00:20:49.070 --> 00:20:55.280
  • and self is very strong. And we must overcome this. And the way
  • 00:20:55.290 --> 00:21:01.020
  • to do it is by sowing seeds of generosity. When I can bless
  • 00:21:01.030 --> 00:21:07.230
  • others, or I can meet the needs of others or I can show love to
  • 00:21:07.240 --> 00:21:12.180
  • someone else, where I can give so that the Gospel can advance.
  • 00:21:12.190 --> 00:21:17.060
  • Would you begin looking for opportunities to sow seeds of
  • 00:21:17.070 --> 00:21:22.160
  • kindness and goodness and generosity into the lives of
  • 00:21:22.170 --> 00:21:26.090
  • people, and then just wait and watch as the blessings of God
  • 00:21:26.100 --> 00:21:30.190
  • come pouring back on you. It's the law of the harvest relative
  • 00:21:30.200 --> 00:21:36.150
  • to living, relative to giving. But what I really want to
  • 00:21:36.160 --> 00:21:42.000
  • concentrate in the moments that we have left is the law of the
  • 00:21:42.010 --> 00:21:46.140
  • harvest as it relates to our going.... as it relates to
  • 00:21:46.150 --> 00:21:51.250
  • sharing our faith in evangelism. We reap what we sow, more than
  • 00:21:51.260 --> 00:21:57.060
  • we sow, later than we sow, and we are to sow the seeds of
  • 00:21:57.070 --> 00:22:01.230
  • evangelism. Whether it's planting churches or planting
  • 00:22:01.240 --> 00:22:04.120
  • our own lives on mission fields or in our own neighborhoods, we
  • 00:22:04.130 --> 00:22:09.240
  • are committed to sowing the seeds of evangelism. Now let me
  • 00:22:09.250 --> 00:22:15.240
  • ask and answer a couple of questions regarding evangelism,
  • 00:22:15.250 --> 00:22:19.010
  • because sometimes when you start talking about evangelism and
  • 00:22:19.020 --> 00:22:22.070
  • missions, people get all uptight about that. But let me just
  • 00:22:22.080 --> 00:22:27.040
  • remind you of a few things. Number one, who is to share
  • 00:22:27.050 --> 00:22:33.060
  • their faith. The who is you! Because every follower of Jesus,
  • 00:22:33.070 --> 00:22:41.200
  • like a farmer, is to sow the seeds of the Gospel. We are
  • 00:22:41.210 --> 00:22:47.100
  • called and commissioned by our Commander-in-Chief, the Lord
  • 00:22:47.110 --> 00:22:53.160
  • Jesus Christ Himself. Matthew 28:19 and 20. Jesus said, "Go,
  • 00:22:53.170 --> 00:22:58.100
  • and make disciples of all nations." Literally, as you are
  • 00:22:58.110 --> 00:23:03.080
  • going, starting in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, the uttermost
  • 00:23:03.090 --> 00:23:06.250
  • parts of the world ... Go into all the world... make disciples,
  • 00:23:06.260 --> 00:23:11.040
  • mark those disciples by baptizing them in the name of
  • 00:23:11.050 --> 00:23:14.100
  • the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. And then mature
  • 00:23:14.110 --> 00:23:17.140
  • those disciples by growing them up in Christian living around
  • 00:23:17.150 --> 00:23:22.180
  • the Word of God. That's the mission of our church: to go
  • 00:23:22.190 --> 00:23:24.140
  • into all the world! Literally... that should be... It's an action
  • 00:23:24.150 --> 00:23:28.090
  • verb... "As you are going..." So who is the one who is to go into
  • 00:23:28.100 --> 00:23:33.270
  • the world. You... not just the professionals, not just the
  • 00:23:33.280 --> 00:23:40.170
  • preachers, not just the missionaries, not just the
  • 00:23:40.180 --> 00:23:44.100
  • super-saints, but every believer is called to go into your
  • 00:23:44.110 --> 00:23:49.280
  • world... into the fields. Jarrett in the earlier service
  • 00:23:49.290 --> 00:23:53.250
  • brought a message on this text and he said, "You know, a farmer
  • 00:23:53.260 --> 00:23:57.100
  • has to go into the field, and what is the field? The field is
  • 00:23:57.110 --> 00:24:00.210
  • your school, the field is your work, the field is your
  • 00:24:00.220 --> 00:24:03.080
  • neighborhood, the field is where you live! That's your field,
  • 00:24:03.090 --> 00:24:06.170
  • that's your mission field! We should put a sign out on the
  • 00:24:06.180 --> 00:24:10.060
  • exits of our property which say, "You are now entering the
  • 00:24:10.070 --> 00:24:14.050
  • mission field." Our communities are growing all around us with
  • 00:24:14.060 --> 00:24:21.070
  • people who do not know Christ; people who need Jesus in their
  • 00:24:21.080 --> 00:24:28.120
  • lives. And it is our responsibility to go and to sow
  • 00:24:28.130 --> 00:24:34.050
  • into their lives the Word of God. The who is you! Everyone...
  • 00:24:34.060 --> 00:24:39.110
  • teachers, business persons, homemakers, physicians,
  • 00:24:39.120 --> 00:24:41.150
  • attorneys, students, children... all of us! This commandment, the
  • 00:24:41.160 --> 00:24:47.090
  • Great Commission is not the great suggestion; it's for all
  • 00:24:47.100 --> 00:24:54.290
  • of us! It's for every one of us! And I pray that it will be a
  • 00:24:55.000 --> 00:24:58.290
  • priority for you as a Christian. But if you will start sowing
  • 00:24:59.000 --> 00:25:03.090
  • seeds of the Gospel and speak up and put Jesus and the message of
  • 00:25:03.100 --> 00:25:10.250
  • the cross and the resurrection in your conversation with
  • 00:25:10.260 --> 00:25:12.290
  • people. Not in a bragging way, but in a grateful way, it will
  • 00:25:13.000 --> 00:25:17.190
  • open doors of opportunity. You're sowing seeds and you will
  • 00:25:17.200 --> 00:25:21.290
  • reap a harvest in your living, in your giving and in your going
  • 00:25:22.000 --> 00:25:30.090
  • and sowing, it's the law of the harvest at work.
  • 00:25:30.100 --> 00:25:36.060
  • [Music]
  • 00:25:36.070 --> 00:25:42.240
  • For the past 25 years
  • 00:25:42.250 --> 00:25:44.090
  • PowerPoint Ministries has been grateful,
  • 00:25:44.100 --> 00:25:46.240
  • very grateful to be able to share the gospel of Jesus Christ
  • 00:25:46.250 --> 00:25:50.260
  • around the world. And I continue to be thankful for the amazing
  • 00:25:50.270 --> 00:25:55.050
  • support from grateful and generous friends just like you.
  • 00:25:55.060 --> 00:25:59.000
  • At the core of each of my messages is one thing, Jesus
